CELEBRATING JOSHUA ♡
Today was a very special day for Joshua. Today was his graduation from St Andrews Preschool!
Joshua and his family have been part of our centre community since Joshua was three years old. Now it is time for him to go to primary school.
At St Andrews Preschool we celebrate this milestone with a special graduation celebration.
We celebrate the child’s birthday and graduation together at mat time. Parents, grandparents and friends are most warmly welcomed to join us.
The teachers share some of the special things about the child and goes through the child’s portfolio, following their preschool journey. We all look at the self-portrait on their very first day and notice how they have changed over their time at preschool. They also compare their handprint now against the size of the one in their portfolio on their first day or preschool.
Finally, the child is presented with their very own children’s bible which has a special messages written on the inside cover from each of the teachers.
Joshua, we have loved getting to know you.
Some things that we love about you are your sense of justice and knowing right from wrong. You care for others and you will often help out when other children are sad or hurt. We love the way you help out at preschool whether its sharing your ideas or getting stuck in to get something done.
We’ve noticed that you enjoy playing outside, especially in the sandpit and you can often be found in the sand and water creating volcanoes, digging trenches and rivers, or using the planks in the sandpit to create different challenges. You also enjoy building and creating with the magnetic blocks, LEGO, Mobilo and the wooden blocks.
Joshua, you are very interested in pretend play and you often interweave stories among your play. You are interested in music and you love to join in at mat times with dancing, singing and karakia. You are also very interested in vehicles and you often play with trucks and cars.
The character virtues we have seen you develop are friendliness, patience with turn taking and understanding how others feel, confidence in communicating your ideas and feelings, responsibility in looking after yourself and others and cooperation.
Joshua, this is our prayer for you as you transition to school: We pray that your school journey will be full of joy and laughter as you learn and grow. We pray that you will make lasting friendships that will be full of adventure and discovery. Jesus is with you Joshua!
May you continue to know the joy of exploring and being inquisitive. Never forget that you are special and precious.
Joshua, it was our pleasure to celebrate YOU today!
We are sad to say goodbye to you, but we proudly send you off to your new adventure at school with our love, support and blessing ♡
