CELEBRATING MATTHEW ♡
Today was a very special day for Matthew. Today was his graduation from St Andrews Preschool!
Matthew and his family have been part of our centre community since Matthew was four years old. Now it is time for him to go to primary school.
At St Andrews Preschool we celebrate this milestone with a special graduation celebration.
We celebrate the child’s birthday and graduation together at mat time. Parents, grandparents and friends are most warmly welcomed to join us.
The teachers share some of the special things about the child and goes through the child’s portfolio, following their preschool journey. We all look at the self-portrait on their very first day and notice how they have changed over their time at preschool. They also compare their handprint now against the size of the one in their portfolio on their first day or preschool.
Finally, the child is presented with their very own children’s bible which has a special messages written on the inside cover from each of the teachers.
Matthew, we have loved getting to know you.
Some things that we love about you are your ability to communicate your thoughts and ideas. You are confident in sharing your knowledge of the world and you like to share what you know with children and teachers alike. You also take the time to listen as well. You also have great manners and you are very polite and caring.
We’ve noticed that you enjoy putting puzzles together, climbing outside on the climbing boxes and planks, playing on the slide, swing and handing upside down on the monkey bars. You also enjoy playing on the iPads, especially playing with the puzzle games on the iPads. Reading books and playing with puppets are other activities that you enjoy.
Matthew, you are very interested in basketball. You have demonstrated your ability to dribble the ball and shoot the ball into hula hoops. You are also interested in juggling and you have shared your understanding about how juggling works. You are interested in dramatic play and you often have a story to tell along with your play. Lately you have enjoyed wearing the capes and pretending to be a superhero.
The character virtues we have seen you develop are friendliness and patience with others, confidence in sharing your thoughts and ideas, helpfulness at tidy up times or when someone needed help. You are persistent in carrying out tasks that you set for yourself, and you show understanding about the world around you.
Matthew this is our prayer for you as you transition to school: We pray that school will be a time of exploration where you will find out more about your skills and talents. We pray that you will make lasting friendships that will bring out the best in you and we pray that you will find joy and excitement as you learn and grow. Jesus is with you Matthew!
May you continue to know the joy of exploring and being inquisitive. Never forget that you are special and precious.
Matthew, it was our pleasure to celebrate YOU today!
We are sad to say goodbye to you, but we proudly send you off to your new adventure at school with our love, support and blessing ♡
