CELEBRATING MILAN ♡
Today was a very special day for Milan. Today was his graduation from St Andrews Preschool!
Milan and his family have been part of our centre community since Milan was three years old. Now it is time for him to go to primary school.
At St Andrews Preschool we celebrate this milestone with a special graduation celebration.
We celebrate the child’s birthday and graduation together at mat time. Parents, grandparents and friends are most warmly welcomed to join us.
The teachers share some of the special things about the child and goes through the child’s portfolio, following their preschool journey. We all look at the self-portrait on their very first day and notice how they have changed over their time at preschool. They also compare their handprint now against the size of the one in their portfolio on their first day or preschool.
Finally, the child is presented with their very own children’s bible which has a special messages written on the inside cover from each of the teachers.
Milan, we have loved getting to know you.
Some things that we love about you are your willingness to help. You often volunteer to help out when you see that others need it and you enjoy helping the teachers as well. We love your sense of humor Milan and how you like to make jokes. We also love your responsible nature and how you offer your ideas about problem solving.
We’ve noticed that you enjoy reading stories and you will find every opportunity to listen to stories that the teachers read and you love to hear stories at mat time. You enjoy building with mobilo, duplo and the wooden blocks. You enjoy baking and you often get involved when someone is in the kitchen and you enjoy doing puzzles at the puzzle table.
Milan, you are very interested in your family and sharing information about what you get up to at home and on the weekends. You also like to share your Dutch culture including dress-ups and celebrations that are different from New Zealand holidays. You are also interested in construction and you have made many things to take home in the carpentry area.
The character virtues we have seen you develop are determination to learn new skills and to persevere with difficult tasks, patience in understanding others and with turn taking, helpfulness when the need arises, purposefulness in your work and your constructions, and leadership in sharing your knowledge with others.
Milan this is our prayer for you as you transition to school: We pray that school will be a time of continuing to develop your creativity and your love for reading. We pray that your friendships will bring you joy and confidence as you develop leadership skills and we pray that you will continue to share your heritage with others. Jesus is always there for you Milan!
May you continue to know the joy of exploring and being inquisitive. Never forget that you are special and precious.
Milan, it was our pleasure to celebrate YOU today!
We are sad to say goodbye to you, but we proudly send you off to your new adventure at school with our love, support and blessing ♡
