We believe relationship is the heart of learning.
1. Nourish Café | Te Puna
Nourish Café is a fabulous café in Te Puna which parents rave about for as the perfect spot for child-friendly coffee dates and lunches. They have an indoor play area for children with toys and books, but it’s the outdoor play area that’s a real treat. A beautiful kid’s playhouse, soft grass, a fort with slide and real-life bunnies will keep your children entertained while you relax with a coffee.

2. Grindz Café | Tauranga
Grindz is a Tauranga institution and a firm favourite with parents thanks to the children’s playroom filled with toys, blocks and books. If you are a clean-eating, raw or vegan food enthusiast they always have some good options for you alongside all the usual naughty cabinet yumminess!

3. Cafe Eden, Decor Gardenworld | Bethlehem
How does a bounce on the trampoline for your energetic pre-schooler and a nice coffee or herbal tea for you sound? You can find both at Cafe Eden and Decor Gardenworld. As well as a generous cafe deck overlooking the flowers and foliage of the garden centre, there is also a children’s play area with picnic tables and seating for the grown-ups. When you are ready for a wander take your little one to speak to ‘Punk’ the rainbow lorikeet. In your travels, keep an eye out for ‘Hudson’ the cat who will probably be tucked up asleep in a sunny spot (possibly in the catnip!). A lovely little sanctuary.

4. Love Rosie Bakery | Tauranga
Love Rosie Bakery captures home-made goodness to perfection. Kate and Brent and their team love little people and their families and welcome them to come and have fun spending time together at their cafe. It’s a popular little place so space can be limited at busy times. Side-step the lunch-time rush and you’ll have more space to enjoy the sweet little touches like the lolly jar and the toy animals used as table numbers which make for a delightful date with your pre-schooler.

5. Cafe Botannix at Palmers in Bethlehem
Café Botannix is nestled within the beautiful surrounds of Palmers Garden Centre in Bethlehem. From the hundreds of animal figurines placed all over the centre, the goldfish ponds tucked away in the corner, to the fantastic playground located next to the café, it’s paradise for children!
Proud cafe owners, Richard and Kat, welcome regular mother’s groups who meet for a coffee (and their ‘World Famous in Tauranga’ savoury scones). Their three high chairs, toy box and colouring-in book collection keep the littlies safe and occupied while the mums take a moment to catch up.
